Juventus Training Philosophy:

Child growth and development relating to soccer must begin by developing good sportsmanship and a healthy sport psychology.  While conditioning is not a favorite activity among athletes, it is vital to their strength and endurance.  This "necessary evil" can be fun and rewarding if taught with the players' goals and interests in mind.  Players will be trained on self-discipline through the use of structured practices and drills.  Further, self-discipline will be emphasized in relation to players' family contributions and academic successes.  While on the field, whether at practice or a game, players are expected to support one another and encourage skill acquisition among team mates, fostering good sportsmanship and camaraderie .

The technical and tactical components of soccer must develop through a "scope and sequence" approach.  That is, the skills must be introduced, modeled, taught in order of natural skill progression with emphasis on technical accuracy, and developed to a point of independent execution that becomes natural to the players.  That being said, players will develop skills at different rates, not based wholly on their ages.  All players within a given age group; however, will receive exposure to all skills deemed appropriate for that age group.  Players will use structured practice times to develop their deficiencies and fine tune their mastered skills.

No athlete will progress beyond mediocrity without an internal drive to improve, a commitment to practice and skill development, and a strong family support system that enables 100% participation and follow-through.  While not all players will become professional athletes, many may progress to a collegiate level of play.  No college level or professional athlete has emerged without putting in numerous hours of practice.
